Reasons to Have a Professional Facial
1. Skin Analysis by a trained professional
Study shows that most of people define their skin types and home care incorrectly.
At Raya Day Spa professional aestheticians (licensed by State of California) and continuously trained by Raya Taver (42 years experience) will
provide this information to you correctly.
2. Deep cleansing of the skin and pores by a professional
Cleansing the skin and pores of dirt, debris and environmental factors can allow your skin to maintain a healthy balance and enhance its ability to fight off disease    and aging. It can also enable the skin to better utilize the products that you apply for nourishment, protection and exfoliation.
A professional is trained to perform this service when needed in the least invasive, though effective manner. The skin is prepped with products that ease the    procedure, then the professional performs pore cleansing safely, with great results.
3. Deeper penetration of products through the benefits of professional facial massage
Professional facial massage techniques warm the skin, thus opening the pores to allow deeper penetration of products. Warmth resulting from professional facial    massage also dilates the vascular system, encouraging it to bring nutrients and moisture to the deeper layers of the skin and to remove toxins produced during    normal metabolism. This stimulation also brings a healthy glow to the skin that only a professional facial massage can produce.
4. Professional recommendation
Skin care professionals are trained to recommend appropriate professional services that will meet your treatment needs. The professional can also recommend the    correct home care program to enable you to meet your goals for your skin.
5. Professional products
The treatment products used by your skin care professional produce enhanced results in your treatment. Also, the professional level home care product    recommended by your skin care specialist will maintain and improve the condition of your skin between services. You will be educated on the benefits of each    treatment, on the benefits of home care products and on how to use them correctly for achieving your skin care goals.

LED Light Therapy Targets Damaged Skin at the Cellular Level
One of the most exciting skincare innovations to come along in years, LED Light Therapy offers the Holy Grail of corrective therapies: flexibility, freedom from downtime and genuinely dramatic results.
Originally developed by NASA for use in biosciences, LED Light Therapy, or photomodulation, works by sending low-emission pulses of light onto your skin. Different parts of the spectrum, represented by different colors, are used to treat various skin problems. Photomodulation stimulates collagen production, collagen being the main protein that makes skin elastic. It also encourages lymphatic drainage to reduce
swelling. So, in effect, LED returns your skin to a more youthful state – firmer, with a smoother texture, fewer fine lines, and more even tone.
Specifically, what does LED therapy treat? Problematic skin and acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation and broken capillaries. Photodamaged,
sagging, aging skin in all its forms. Fine lines and wrinkles. The list goes on. Best of all, a full series can produce results that last up to nine months!
One thing I recommend to my clients is combining LED with Rejuvenation therapies or traditional facials for maximum results. These treatments complement each other brilliantly, and are gentle and soothing as well. On the product advances side, we're seeing fantastic results from LED service supplemented by daily use of high-concentration vitamin C serums. These can be applied in the morning for a full day's antioxidant
protection against skin-damaging free radicals.
One thing hasn't changed: Beautiful skin is as much about prevention as about treatment. LED Light Therapy is a great step forward, in that it excels at both.

Oxygen Treatment Masque with Vitamin C
(for professional in-salon use only)
This active powder mask is formulated for an effective revitalizing and restorative salon strength treatment. Fine powdered clays perform deep
cleansing, while Vitamin C, tissue respiratory factors (yeast oxygen treatment), super oxide dismutase (anti-free radical treatment) and a blend of natural plant extracts (in powder form), help to restore sun damaged, under-moisturized, dull, and maturing skin.
Directions: To active the masque, mix approximately 1 teaspoon of powder with an adequate quantity of purified water or toner/astringent, appropriate for client's skin type. Apply after deep pore cleansing and mechanical exfoliation (scrubs or peeling creams). Do not use any chemical exfoliators (alpha or beta hydroxy acids or enzymes) immediately prior to, or after treatment. Leave on for 10-15 min., then rinse with tepid water. For a super active oxygen treatment (not for sensitive skin) rather than water or toner/astringent, add 3-5 drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide to powder. The mask will begin to heat up, rise, and slightly fizz. Please allow enough room in your mixing container for this to occur ( the container should be at least 3 times larger than used for a regular mask). This method is only to be used by a licensed esthetician.

CONCENTRATED FORMULATIONS TO BE APPLIED ONLY IN-SALON BY LICENSED ESTHETICIAN
Description
Thickened upper layers of stratum corneum, a common condition of the skin, is a result of increased resistive build-up of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. This condition is not only physically unappealing, it usually lends itself to several other unwanted conditions such as comedone formation, milia, etc. There are two ways an esthetician can help to break down a thickened stratum corneum:
1. Hydrating and mechanical scrubbing.
An esthetician can provide intensive hydrating services such as steam and sloughing products (see our Enzyme Peeling Cream or Almond Honey Scrub). They work as "sand paper" to remove the dead skin cells. Almond meal grains act as a coarse exfoliant and the French talc within the scrub as a polishing finish. Intensive steam and scrubbing leaves the skin radiant because of better light reflection (called interference). Mechanical scrubs do not influence the lower levels of the stratum corneum. They remove only the very top layers of the stratum corneum.
2. Exfoliation with Alpha Hydroxy Acids.
This is a special group of fruit acids found to reduce resistive dead cell build-up. As the solution of Alpha Hydroxy Acids influences dead cell build-up at a lower level of the stratum corneum ( because of its penetration), the removal of the deeper dead cell layer allows the skin to become more
flexible. This results in a thinner stratum corneum layer, which bends more readily without cracking and splitting; the skin becomes more radiant and obtains natural color.

The Brazilian Wax – All you Need to Know for a New Look
The Brazilian wax is now more popular than ever with women and this article is about the history, how to have one done and what to expect
from the treatment
Having a Brazilian wax is not difficult and most women who have it are delighted with the results as are their partners!
So how does it differ from a bikini wax?
Quite simply, with the Brazilian wax hair is removed from the front, back & everything in between.
Most of the time a small 'landing strip' is left at the front, but many women go for everything removed.
Before having a Brazilian bikini wax, consider trying a standard bikini wax which will remove the hair from your bikini line or the full bikini which
will remove most of your pubic hair but will not go near the most sensitive areas.
Keep in mind a Brazilian bikini wax removes most or all of the pubic hair, so if you are unsure if you really want one opt for this method first
History
Brazilian bikini waxes have been very popular since the 90's. Brazilian waxing was introduced to New York in 1987 by a group of Brazilian-born
sisters, who gave it its name.
These Brazilian women were not however the first that removed their pubic hair.
Women have been removing their pubic hair for thousands of years and the trend started in ancient Egypt!
Women in the Middle East have also used Brazilian waxing since ancient times and look usually was achieved just before their wedding for the
purpose of displaying purity.
If you are having a Brazilian wax done then its best to get it done professionally and if you are unsure of having one done try a bikini wax first.
A professional Brazilian wax is relatively cheap, the process takes around 30 minutes and then you have your new look.
Here's How:
1. Because you only need about a quarter-inch of hair for the wax to grab onto, your aesthetician will start by trimming your pubic hair to the
right length.
2. The best aestheticians are quick, which cuts down on discomfort to the patient.
3. The aesthetician will dip a waxing stick into a pot of hot wax & then spread it onto the area to be waxed.
The aesthetician will then apply a cloth strip over the warm wax, pressing firmly so the cloth, hair and wax stick together. When the wax has cooled down, the aesthetician will pull the strip off, in the opposite direction of your hair growth and remove the hair by the roots.
4. Waxing usually starts at the front and moves towards the back.
5. Once the waxing is over, the aesthetician will spread soothing lotion onto the area.
That's it! You now have your Brazilian wax and your new look in around 30 minutes
Brazilian Waxing and pain
The procedure of the Brazilian wax (like any waxing) can be painful at first, but a frequent visit usually cuts down the pain factor as your body adjusts.
As for the embarrassment that some women feel, it is actually know different to a typical visit to your gynecologist's and remember, they have seen it all before its their job.
The downside of a Brazilian wax is that you can't do it just once!
While waxing lasts up to 3 or 4 weeks, the hair will eventually grow back and you will then need another treatment.
Other downsides to Brazilian bikini waxes are:
Hair has to be a certain length before it can waxed properly and you might experience red bumps or ingrown hairs after the treatment.
The Brazilian Bikini Wax is here to stay
The above downsides are fairly minor and most women once they have tried the procedure continue with waxing.
The Brazilian Bikini wax is here to stay and is not as difficult, expensive or as hard to do as many women think. Keep in mind getting a Brazilian wax is not expensive and it's a good idea to have it professionally done.

History of the Finnish Sauna
For nearly two thousand years, the sauna has been an essential part of life in Finland. The Finns are true to their traditions of sauna bathing. In today‚s modern world, many people are now also using saunas and enjoying the many benefits they have to offer. Conventional saunas are designed to heat the room up to very high temperatures. This in turn opens clogged pores through perspiration and sweat, emitting harmful toxins that are captured in the skin.
Using the Sauna
The body‚s natural way to cleanse itself is through
perspiration. The sauna‚s high temperature (average 180°F) and low humidity (25%) create an environment that promotes overall perspiration, which flushes away impurities and deep cleanses the pores. This special combination of high heat and low humidity soothes and relaxes tired muscles, relieves stress, and promotes a wonderful feeling of well-being. During a sauna, circulation, rate of breathing, and pulse rate increase. Ten minutes in the sauna is comparable to doing ten minutes of aerobic activity.
